Amanda Slater

Prior to joining RFA, Amanda was Senior Director, US Government Relations at Visa Inc., where she led the company’s Democratic strategy and engagement. In her role at Visa, Amanda managed the company’s work on a range of issues including financial services, technology, trade, tax and privacy.

Before joining Visa, Amanda served in several policy roles for moderate Democrats on Capitol Hill.  Most recently, Amanda was senior policy advisor for Senator Tom Carper (D-DE).  In this capacity Amanda staffed the Senator on the Senate Finance Committee on trade issues and on various matters before the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.  In addition to leading the Senator’s work on trade, she managed the banking and corporate governance portfolio, focusing on Dodd-Frank implementation.


Amanda also served as a senior advisor to Congressman Ed Perlmutter (D-CO), where she was his primary liaison for his work on the House Committee on Financial Services during the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.  In her role, Amanda also served as his primary representative with the New Democrat Coalition and helped support his work on the House Rules Committee.  She began her career in public service as a legislative assistant to Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher (D-CA).


Prior to working on Capitol Hill, Amanda worked for the National Association of Federal Credit Unions, where she represented the Association before House and Senate Democrats on a broad range of financial services issues.
